The 2025 Chest Wall Injury Society Budapest meeting includes a deep-dive in the current operative and non-operative approaches to chest wall trauma. We will examine the historical treatment options, current surgical systems available, and opportunities for collaboration & research partnering opportunities.
The faculty will present illustrative cases for an interactive session with the audience to discuss and debate the approaches available.
During the session, the audience will also have time for hands-on technique & procedures lab time, which will afford the participants access to see and experience the various surgical systems while practicing plate fixation on 3D simulated models.
The shared experiences and expertise of local and national surgeons provide a unique and rich educational experience. As a result of participating in this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Review complex chest anatomy and chest wall injury surgical exposures
- Discuss updated guidelines and best practices regarding surgical stabilization of rib fractures
- Identify key steps in SSRF algorithm to determine optimal surgical patient selection
- Implement collaborative practice steps between trauma, thoracic, and orthopedic care teams
- Analyze illustrative chest wall injury patient cases across the learning continuum from novice to advanced healthcare professionals
- Discuss recently completed and upcoming relevant research and science regarding chest wall injury
